Autauga County Sheriff's Office Temporarily Suspends the Issuance of In-Person Issued Conceal Carry/Pistol Permits Due to Ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and looking out for the health and safety of administrative personnel; Sheriff Joe Sedinger will be temporarily suspending the issuance of "In-Person" Conceal Carry/Pistol Permits effective Monday, March 30, 2020 until further notice. What does this mean? You can still renew your pistol permit through the mail. To renew through the mail you will need to do the following:

  • Fill out an application that you can download and print out on our website: www.autaugasheriff.org under the Conceal Carry/Pistol Permit tab, or call and we can mail you a copy.
  • Mail the application in with your payment for one (1) year ($20.00) and we will mail back your permit once it has been processed.

If you are inquiring on a new permit, you will need to do the following:

  • Fill out the application that can be printed from our website: www.autaugasheriff.org under the Conceal Carry/Pistol Permit tab, or call and we can mail you a copy.
  • Mail in your application and the office will process your request and run your background.
  • One of our clerks will call you to set up an appointment to come into the office to finalize your permit and take payment. No Walk-In permits will be processed the same day.

Sheriff Sedinger also states that all surrounding counties and states are relaxing the penalties on carrying a pistol with an expired permit, as long as the permit expired within the last month or so. If you have any questions or need an application mailed to you, please call the Autauga County Sheriff's Office Administrative Office at (334) 361-2504.
